Mental Health Coaching and Outdoor Experiences

Wilderness Excursions

How long have you been staring at your phone? It’s kind of hard to get away from the thing isn’t it? So much of our time and attention is buffeted by a never-ending stream of distractions, advertising and mindless entertainment. Imagine yourself in the landscape up above. The morning air is crisp and cool, a deep silence envelops you. Listening closer you hear the wind drifting down from the mountains, a horned lark begins its rhythmic chirping, the breeze rustles through the elderberry branches. You take your first sip of coffee as the sun rises above the peaks, filling the valley with golden warmth. You are not here to consume. You are here to connect.

If we surrendered
to Earth’s intelligence,
we could rise up rooted, like trees.

Rainer Maria Rilke

It has become rare to experience true quiet, true serenity. When we step away from our devices, we step towards re-connecting with the natural world and with ourselves. There’s minimal distraction in the wilderness, it’s just you and your raw experience. Without access to familiar coping mechanisms (technology, substances, busy-ness etc.) the experience of being alone with our thoughts and emotions can be alot to handle. Our guides are highly self aware individuals who are on their own path of healing and self discovery. We’ll walk beside you as your process unfolds. Internal Ascent guides are trained to provide trauma informed care, process challenging emotions, teach mindfulness coping strategies and hold space for clients. We can create as much or as little of a therapeutic container as you like. We’re down for deep processing and leaning into the emotional work. If you would prefer some time to recharge and turn off the thinking brain, we can gladly provide that as well.

We can create custom itineraries based on your goals, interests and fitness/skill level. Basically, if you have an idea you’re stoked on, we’ll try to make it happen. Want someone to guide you on a day-hike? No problem. Want to do a week on the Appalachian Trail. Let’s do it. 3 days of climbing in Red River Gorge. Yes, please. Pricing is dependent upon the number of people, location, activity etc.
