Self Discovery Climbing Retreat at Lime Kiln Canyon, AZ
Greetings! Thanks for your interest in joining us for self discovery, connection and mindful movement. If you have any questions, please reach out!
When: November 17-19th. Course will run from 9:30AM- 6:30 PM roughly each day.
Where: Lime Kiln Canyon, Northern Arizona. 36.660131, -114.011823
Who is this for?: All are welcome. We aim to provide a safe, inclusive environment that is conducive to high emotional safety and the exploration of challenging past experiences. You may share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with. We do ask that you come with an open mind, a desire to lean into your emotional work and some stoke to go climbing ๐
What topics will the retreat focus on: We will provide journaling prompts, meditations and group sharing to process how we interact with the concepts of purpose, fear and the pursuit of a fully engaged life. As we bring attention to our thoughts and patterns that arise while climbing, we can start to inquire further of how those patterns show up in other ways in our lives.
Accommodation and food: We will have a large group camp. Coordinates and directions will be sent out prior to arrival.
Each person should prepare to be self sufficient. In an effort to make this retreat financially accessible, we will not be providing any food or gear. Each person should bring their own camping/climbing gear, food, water and kitchen needs. Please come prepared to take care of yourself. We will send out a gear list one week prior to the retreat to make sure you’re fully covered on gear!
Access: The road to get to the trailhead is fairly rough and a high clearance vehicle is preferred. We will have a campsite that is 2wd approachable. We will carpool to the crag so that we don’t take over the small campground. The hike in is roughly 30 minutes with some notable uphill sections.
Necessary Skills: We will discuss your skills prior to climbing and proceed accordingly. This is not a guided course, rather Internal Ascent is offering consultation services around making climbing a more meditative exercise. Ideally, you will know how to belay, top-rope, tie a figure 8 knot, build safe top-rope anchors and lead climb. We are happy to give tips and pointers if you have questions. This is not an instructional course and Internal Ascent is in no way responsible for the safety of the participants. You are fully responsible for your own safety.
Climbing gear: Helmet, harness, shoes, belay device, quickdraws, 70-80 meter rope, anchor building materials. It could also be worthwhile to pick up a guidebook as the area is fairly large. Mojave limestone or Rock Climbs of Southwest Utah would both be solid options for lime kiln canyon. No gear will be provided.
Reserve Your Spot: We will cap the retreat at 8 participants to provide plenty of time for participants to share. Can’t wait to meet you out in the desert!
Thank you for your response. โจ
