What if you could combine your self discovery process with climbing, supportive friends and the beauty of nature?

Our Mindful Climbing Retreat gives you the opportunity to meet likeminded climbers who want to deepen their emotional process through mindful movement and authentic connection. Whether you want to work on fear of falling, limiting beliefs, current life transitions or deepen your own mindfulness practice, this retreat is for you.

We’ll have 2 nights and 3 days together to go deep, share our truth and co-create a group container. We’ll climb each day and enjoy the practice of mindful movement. If you’re looking for a transformative experience with amazing people alongside you, you’ve come to the right place.

The Details

Cost: $500

When: June 14-16th. Course will run from 9:30AM- 6:30 PM roughly each day.

Who is this for?: All are welcome. From beginners to experts, you will benefit from this retreat. We aim to provide a welcoming and inclusive environment that is conducive to high emotional safety. We welcome all walks of life and we’re excited to be a part of your journey. We ask that you come with an open mind, a desire to lean into your emotional work, and some stoke to go climbing 🙂

What topics will the retreat focus on: We will provide journaling prompts, meditations and group sharing to process how we interact with the concepts of purpose, fear and the pursuit of a fully engaged life. As we bring attention to our thoughts, sensations, and patterns that arise while climbing, we can start to inquire further of how those patterns show up in other ways in our lives. I (Mikey) really enjoy incorporating Internal Family Systems, mindfulness based stress reduction techniques and nature practices into our daily groups.

Accommodation and food: We will have a large group camp. Coordinates and directions will be sent out prior to arrival. In an attempt to make this retreat more accessible and to reduce our ecological impact, each participant will be responsible for bringing their own cooking equipment, water and food. Meals will not be catered at this retreat.

Each person should prepare to be self sufficient. In an effort to make this retreat financially accessible, we will not be providing any food or gear. Each person should bring their own camping/climbing gear, food, water and kitchen needs. Please come prepared to take care of yourself. We will send out a gear list one week prior to the retreat to make sure you’re fully covered on gear!

Access: We will have a large group campsite that is 2wd approachable. We will carpool to the crag from our campsite.

Necessary Skills: We will discuss your skills prior to climbing and proceed accordingly. Ideally, you will know how to belay, top-rope, tie a figure 8 knot, build safe top-rope anchors and lead climb. We are happy to give instruction if needed. This is not an instructional course, however, we are happy to set top-ropes up for you. If you would like to lead, practice falling or set anchors we will need to go over skills together to make sure you are safe and competent.

Climbing gear: Helmet, harness, shoes, belay device, quickdraws, 60-70 meter rope, anchor building materials. It could also be worthwhile to pick up a guidebook as the area is fairly large. No gear will be provided by Internal Ascent.

Reserve Your Spot: We will cap the retreat at 10 participants to provide plenty of time for participants to share. Can’t wait to meet you out in the canyon!

Previous retreat attendees shared the following:

“10/10. Internal Ascent was transformative for my self perception and awareness in life and climbing. Most importantly it provided me a foundation and toolset to continue positive growth in my life. I have noticed profound shifts in my worldview, and am generally a happier and more fulfilled individual as a result of the ongoing work cultivated by Internal Ascent. I would highly recommend this clinic to everyone as an incubator in the journey of self reflection, community building, and climbing.”

Paul C.

“The retreat helped me feel more confident, seen, and understood which is what I feel like I’ve been craving. When lead climbing, I feel like the activities prevented my brain from spiraling into “panic mode.” I still had fear (as expected), but felt more in control of my brain, body, and their connection.”

“The community we co-created together helped me feel supported and that there was no pressure to send hard. Having no expectations, feeing supported and going through some of the self-guided mindfulness exercises really helped me be present while climbing. It allowed me to successfully red point my hardest route on lead and pushed me to lead a few routes I would have previously thought impossible for myself.”

Retreat Attendee

“The retreat gave me some cool ways to be intentional with my movement and climbing. Working through fear can be hard for me and I appreciated that aspect of the climbing tasks.”
